What happens when the life you built no longer fits who you’re becoming?

Written by Darrin Bridge, Co-founder of The Rising You

This is the story of the moment I stepped out of the box I created, and rebuilt my future with intention.

1. The Dream That Opened Everything

Have you ever lived out one of your lifelong dreams? It is wild, rich and deeply fulfilling — the kind of experience that rearranges your sense of what is possible. After recently living out one of mine, It makes me wonder how I ever settled for anything less?

It’s humbling to admit all the times that I have, settled for less. And it’s humbling to admit that there is more. More life. More purpose. More of me still waiting to be lived.

The Rising You is my more. Not in a promotional way, but in a deeply personal way. It became the expansion I didn’t know I was craving — the next doorway that let me bring my own dreams to life by helping others fulfill on theirs.

It takes something to make your dreams come true.

A willingness to get real. Like really real with yourself. A moment of courage. The decision to stop playing small and step toward the life that’s been asking for you.

This is where my story begins. And maybe, in some quiet way, this is where yours begins too.

2. Why This Story Matters to You

If you are entrepreneurially spirited, you likely know the feeling when your life begins to outgrow its old shape. You sense you are meant for more, but you may not yet know the way forward.

My story is for you — because I was exactly where you might be standing.

3. Introducing Darrin: The Human Behind the Story

My name is Darrin Bridge. I was born and raised in Victoria, BC, and I am a Westcoast girl at heart. I love the ocean, the outdoors and the kind of rain that sends most people running for cover. That landscape shaped me, and it still grounds me today.

4. The 2013 Turning Point

In 2013, everything familiar in my life shifted: I was over ten years into my career as a dental hygienist. My daughter had just graduated high school. I was navigating divorce.

It was disorienting and liberating at the same time. My life cracked open and invited me to choose who I wanted to become next.

At the time, I worked in a big, busy dental practice that I loved. My first responsible idea was to upgrade my computer skills and become the office manager.

I was doing what so many people do when life shakes loose: reaching for the safe choice inside a life that no longer fit.

The moment that thought formed, I said to myself: “Seriously… someone stage an intervention if that becomes my forever plan.”

I realized I was planning my future inside the limits of what I thought I could have and what I thought I could afford — instead of what I truly wanted.

Then came the thought that changed everything:

“Or I can do whatever I want/”

5. Becoming the Leader You Didn’t Know You Were Becoming

Fast forward. I built a life that looked nothing like the one I almost settled for.

Today I am an Executive Leadership Coach, Trainer and Financial Strategist. I run Guardian Coaching & Consulting, working with leaders, entrepreneurs and business owners. I lead a team of coaches in a 10-month leadership program with Evergrowth Coaching called The Forge, and a team of business owners inside The Rising You.

Leadership is a creative art form I am deeply passionate about.

6. The Money Truth Most Entrepreneurs Don’t Want to Look At

Through years of coaching, one pattern kept repeating.

Money is the number one thing people put between themselves and what they want. They give up dreams because they believe they cannot afford them.

I almost did the same.

7. The Second Turning Point: Coaching Isn’t a Business… Yet

Even while coaching full time, I eventually had to admit the truth. I was not building a business. I was coaching without creating a financial foundation.

If I wasn’t finding clients, marketing myself, branding myself and coaching nonstop, I wasn’t making income. I had simply traded one job for another.

And the business owners I coached were facing the same challenge. They wanted profit, but didn’t know how to reinvest it so their business could scale without taking more of their time.

8. The Financial Blind Spot

I didn’t have multiple income streams. I didn’t have a pension. I didn’t have a retirement plan. I didn’t have protection for my business income or a way to grow wealth without working more hours.

This was not how I wanted my life or business to run.

Like most people, I didn’t look for a solution because I didn’t know another way existed. If I didn’t work, I didn’t earn. I shrank my dreams to fit my budget instead of expanding my capacity to match my dreams.

What I wanted more than anything was time, more time to travel the world to be precise.

9. Choosing Responsibility Instead of Hope

So I made a choice. I became responsible for learning what I didn’t yet know.

As a lifelong learner, finances and investing always interested me. I assumed I’d take a course or hire someone.

Instead, I met my previous business partner Shaun, who brought me into his company as a mentee. His business was scaling faster than he could keep up, and he taught me while paying me to learn.

10. Enter TRU: The Structure That Let You Expand

What I build next, in parnership with Maria of course was The Rising You. A company that blends leadership development with financial education to help aspiring entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses while providing a service that is in massive demand.

Now I generate income whether I work all the hours or not. I get paid for managing my own affairs and my clients’ affairs. I get paid to educate others. I get paid to practice leadership.

TRU has me generating passive income, which means more time to experience the world while simultaneously growing my wealth.

A dream come true.
